History of 23 and 25 The Calls

For an incredible 165 years, 23 and 25 The Calls housed the yacht chandlers W.H. Carr and Sons, a supplier of ropes and canvases since 1850. Initially supplying goods for barges on the River Aire they later diversified, crafting everything from wagon covers to pup tents and marquees.

Most notably in 1953 they manufactured and supplied the rope ladders that were used in the first ever successful ascent of Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

We gave 23 The Calls a new life by bringing it up to date with a sensitive conversion into office space, whilst retaining original features throughout; it is home of digital marketing agency Enjoy Digital.

YDG took a similar approach with 25 The Calls, transforming it into stunning office accommodation over 4 floors with a careful refurbishment that blends the building’s historic roots with high spec modern functionality. Today, digital marketing agency media Mediaworks has made 25 The Calls their base in Leeds.
